There are many things to do in Lenggries. You can hike in pretty much every direction and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views, or breathe the fresh mountain air. Enjoy this beautiful village in summer and winter. Nearby cultural attractions are Church St. Jacob (Italian baroque style, built 1722), the Calvary hill near Hohenburg (geometric Style, as opposed to the one in Bad Tölz), Castle Hohenburg, Exile of Adolf I of Luxembourg, the Evang.-Luth. Church (built 1952), and the Heimatmuseum Lenggries (Home-Museum) exhibits locally related items.

Only 1 hours 15 minutes south from Munich's Franz Joseph Strauss international airport, Lenggries is easy and convenient to reach by car. You can also go by train from Munich, if you prefer to use public transportation.


In addition, there are many famous places of interest that invite you for a days visit. For example. fairy-tale castles built by Ludwig II, the former imperial town of Kempten, or the venerable Fugger city of Augsburg, Munich, a city with metropolitan flair is nearby. Lindau and Mainau, both are located at Lake Constance, are worthwhile visits too.

Lenggries is located on the Isar river right before the alpine foothills and sits about 700 meters above sea level. It is East of the city are the Tegernseer Mountains and the home mountain of Lenggries is the Brauneck with an elevation of over 1555 meters above sea level. Brauneck is a great ski location with ski lifts. The town has about 9,500 inhabitants and is mostly dependent on the tourism business that is focused on hiking and skiing.
