4) Personal Diving Lessons with Thomas Hengst


We are pleased to offer you personal scuba diving lessons with Thomas Hengst. Besides being a pharmacist he is also a great licensed scuba diving instructor (MSDT) at the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). Thomas is a big fan of underwater photography too and can help you to learn more about this topic if you’re interested.



For our Live Like a German guests Thomas is offering the PADI OWD class, which comprises 5 swimming pool modules,  4 free water parts, plus all the necessary theory part. PADI courses are performance based dive programs, and at the introductory level emphasize practical knowledge, safety and motor skills. The foundations of Diving physics, physiology and chemistry are built during entry level programs. If you pass this class you’ll earn the “Open Water Diver Brevet.” The diving pool where you’ll practice is called “Monte Mare” in the town “Rheinbach” near Cologne. The free water part is done at a lake near Diez (which is also on the Lahn River.) Thomas will work together with you on the theory part. The whole class can be done in just one week. You’ll need 4 days for the practical education. All the equipment can be rented. Please ask for pricing. 3) Weekly Maid Service


If you’re planning to stay more than a week, we offer a weekly maid service by a trusted person, which includes vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, and changing sheets. Relax on your vacation while we help you keep the apartment clean and tidy. Current pricing is $150 per week. 

2) Extended Day Care Services in Kindergarten


We can help arrange for your kid(s) to visit the local Kindergarten during your stay. This fosters cultural awareness and personal growth for your child, and we highly recommend you take advantage of this unique offer. Enrollment fees vary. We would help you with all the necessary paperwork and coordination. A recent (no older than 4 weeks) written certification of good health from your child’s primary care physician is needed for enrollment. Keep in mind, however, that space is limited and may not be available.


The kindergarten also provides extended day care services in the afternoon, so your kids can have fun playing with other kids while you go sightseeing or explore the area. If you’re interested, we can provide you with detailed pricing for your particular situation.

1) Local Personal Tour Guide


We can help you to arrange for a local personal tour guide. For a fee of $150, the local tour guide will provide you with the experience and know-how of a local person at your disposal while you explore Wetzlar’s historic old town. The Wetzlar tour typically takes about 2-3 hours and provides you with an historical overview. The local tour guide speaks both English and German.  We highly recommend this option in case you’re interested to learn more about Wetzlar and its culture and history.
