Our approx 1150 sqft. house on the Rhine is situated in a quiet, narrow side street in the town of Kaub on the Middle Rhine. The house is built directly into the shale, which consist of the slopes that rise above the village. The banks of the Rhine can be reached on foot from our house in three minutes. Inside you will find:

• A living room
• Connected to the living room, open kitchen
• A separate bedroom, a space consisting of two parts
• A bathroom with bathtub

The house is ideally suited to accommodate up to four people there. Accommodation but there are up to six people.

The living room

The cozy living room is located downstairs is equipped with two armchairs and a couch and connects directly to the open kitchen. The couch can be folded as a comfortable double bed.

The bedroom

The bright bedroom is upstairs and has a 1.80 x 2.00 meters measured double bed and fitted wardrobes, two. Behind a large shelf as a room divider you will find a cozy day bed, a pull-out bed chair and a table with two chairs. On the shelf there is a small but fine library. A small hallway you enter into the adjoining bathroom.

The kitchen

Be settled on the ground floor, open kitchen connects directly to the large living room. She has two hobs, and is equipped with dishes, pots, coffee maker and toaster. For larger meals, there is a 2-plate stove and a small oven with microwave. For special occasions you will find a raclette set, fondue set and a sandwich toaster. In addition, you will also find a nice dining room table, to find the six people comfortably.

The bathroom

The bathroom upstairs is located directly next to the bedroom and is connected thereto via a corridor. It is fully tiled and equipped with a bathtub, where they can unwind after a long hike through the Rhine Valley.

The patio

Small but cozy outdoor seating is in front of the house. There is a small table and two chairs. The next in the Rhine on ascending stairs is part of the old slate Kauber city wall. The patio is the "smoking room", since smoking is not allowed in the house.

Prices:

• You can do the final cleaning yourself or pay one-time 25 € for it.
• A deposit of 200 € you get back at the end of your stay if everything is in order.

Kaub and the Rhine Valley:

We offer you a 860 sqft. holiday house for 2-6 persons on the Rhine in the small town of Kaub for rent. The house is located only five minutes walk from the Rhine River and especially in the summer is an ideal starting point for exploring the beautiful scenery of the Rhine Valley - or just a few days to relax in a peaceful atmosphere. The house itself is built directly into the shale slopes that rise above the village. We bought it in 2010 from the opera singer Mario Brell and his wife, who had lovingly restored it.

About Kaub:

Kaub is a little romantic village located directly on the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate, Rhine Valley, with 900 inhabitants. Small wineries cultivate their wine on the slopes of the Rhine valley, and all around there are many old castles and fortresses, which one can visit. The most widely known castle is Pfalzgrafenstein, which lies on a small island in the Rhine.

In summer one can sit outside in one of the small taverns with a glass of wine from the area and enjoy the view of the Rhine. But even those who yearn for movement come to Kaub, too: On the slopes above the village runs the Rheinsteig stretching from Bonn to Wiesbaden and the longest trail in the whole of Germany. By the way: hikers and their families are very welcome in our house.

The Lorelei

Between Kaub and St. Goar, the legendary Lorelei rock grows up on which the beautiful Loreley once beguiled sailors with her beautiful singing, bringing some of them to ruin. A large and modern tourist center at the Loreley offers many experiences and insights in the beautiful area. On the outdoor stage Loreley are held numerous concerts and even operas in the summer.

Castles on the Rhine

Numerous castles rise up on the rocks along the Middle Rhine. Most of them can be visited. Particularly noteworthy is the huge complex of the castle Rheinfels with numerous secret trails that can be explored on your own. It is located diagonally opposite the Lorelei rock on the other side of the Rhine. With the Rhine River Castles Castles 10 ticket can be visited at a discounted price. Several medieval castles offer festivities on to giant spectacles with many attractions.

Cruise on the Rhine

Many passenger boats ply the Rhine between Mainz, Wiesbaden and Cologne. The KD (Köln-Düsseldorfer German Rhine navigation company) maintains a pier in Kaub. A special attraction is the paddle steamer "Goethe". The other side of the Rhine as it used to be reached by ferry.

The Rheinsteig and other hiking trails

Hikers will find in our area a paradise. Just above Kaub flows the famous 320 km long Rheinsteig trail that leads from Bonn to Wiesbaden. Between Kaub and the Lorelei is one of the most beautiful stretches of the Rhine walkway. Locals tour guides offer thematic tours. Who is on the way back, too tired, can use the bus and train connections. Numerous other marked hiking trails lead through the sometimes primitive natural environment. A particularly well-known way is the European long-distance hiking trail from the Ardennes to the Bohemian Forest.

Experience Nature

Hidden, wild, romantic side valleys, old slate mines and castle ruins in the forest, hidden springs, traces of the Knights and Romans and untouched nature with small streams and rare animal and plant species invite you to discover that enchant children and adults alike.

Children travel

Children are very welcome in our house. We even have two robbers who have already made the whole area unsafe. The area invites to be explored and experienced. Certainly no time for boredom. After a tour of the castle, an extensive natural experience, an exploration of traces of the Knights and Romans, a boat trip, an animal adventure in the big game reserve Rheinböllen or an eagle and falcon show at the castle mouse they are destined happy and tired.

Cultural

Rhineland-Palatinate Summer of Culture as well as the Rheingau Music Festival attract many visitors and offer numerous cultural events at the highest level as well as small and intimate events. On the outdoor stage Loreley find great musical events of all kinds rather than to opera. A special highlight is the event "Rhine in Flames", which takes place annually in September in St. Goar / St. Goar and the Rhine lit with a huge fireworks display. The spectacle can be seen from the banks of the Rhine or hanging from the ship. Smaller artistic performances and exhibitions can be found as well.

Culinary

There for every taste and every pocket into it Kaub culinary delights from French fries at Benno's Truck Stop to the finest menu. A good craft bakery and café business (even with sidewalk café) and a wine bar is located directly at our house around the corner. Numerous barbecue spots in the area invite to simple meals in nature.

Wine

Slate hanging above Kaub and most other towns along the Rhine are used by small winegrowers for the cultivation of wine, especially Riesling and Pinot Noir. There is hardly anything better than a glass of wine from the environment to the smooth flowing Rhine to look down. A wine tasting and a few souvenirs to take home a delicious rounded off the whole thing.

Other recreational activities

In the area there are some swimming pools. The Baden on the Rhine is possible, but not because of currents and eddies dangerous. Swim only where you will find locals and stay close to shore! In the neighboring Weisel, there is a riding stable. A famous Arab stud, see above Kaub Kauber on the plate. Where there are regular shows.
