Usingen:
The municipality consists of the districts Usingen, Eschbach, Crane Mountain, Merzhausen, Michelbach, Wilhelmsdorf and Wernborn. In the middle of downtown is the Usinger castle, probably in the 14th Century. Other attractions include the church of St. Lawrence and the Huguenot church marketplace. The pond at Hattstein Usingen in summer attracts many visitors from the Taunus and Rhine-Main area.
The Grosse Feldberg:
The Taunus, southeastern part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains, between Main and Rhine in the south and the Lahn in the north. From the Wetterau in the east it extends 75 km westward to the Rhine. The mountain was created after the fall of the ancient sea by uplift and folding. The sand grains of the primordial ocean were pressed and bound by acid-rich fluids to quartzite. The high strength of the resulting quartzite ensured that the resulting mountains have stood until today. On many paths we come today upon ancient watchtowers and forts from the Romans. The Gr. Feldberg (881m), the lesser Feldberg (825m), the Altkönig (798) and the Weilsberg (700m) are the highest hills of the Taunus.
