This house looks quaintly small from the outside, but has ample internal living space for up to 8 adults.

On the ground floor there is a large fully equipped kitchen, a dining room to seat 8, a comfortable lounge to seat 8, complete with TV, DVD & music centre, a utility room complete with shower/cloak room including a washing machine & tumble dryer for those who travel light.

On the first floor there is a bathroom/shower room, separate toilet and three double bedrooms, one with a double bed and 2 with twin beds. In the attic is a double bedroom with double bed complete with a large en suite. All bedrooms have ample clothes storage space.

Everything you need is in the town and surrounding area: Ski lifts, ice rink, bowling alley, sports hall, gymnasium, indoor & outdoor swimming pools, railway station, local eateries and bars. Local shops for food, drink, gifts, essentials or equipment hire are all within a 5 minute walk or drive from the house.

Come for a week in the winter and bring the family skiing. It's so much less expensive than the more traditional resorts. Here is an ideal opportunity to learn to ski safely without doing too much damage to your wallet, whilst still enjoying all of the summer activities above.

Parking:

There is parking just opposite the house and a small parking lot just around the corner. There is no street parking as the streets are too narrow.

We are in easy reach of Dresden and the beautiful river Elbe, Meissen, Colditz, Bautzen, Prague, Saxony Switzerland national park and many more places of interest as well as many local places of interest, including a wild life park and many castles. Berlin is a 3 hour drive or train journey away.

Directions:

If you drive in, whether you come off the E40 and through the villages via Altenberg, or whether you come in off the E55, you will turn into the beginning of the High St. (Hauptstrasse). House Anno 1497 will be on your right as you enter and Number 9 is approximately 100 metres up on your left.

The apartment is located in Geising, a tiny town next to Altenberg.

Geising has a long history and was declared a town, albeit a very small town, more than 400 years ago. It's nestled in a valley on the eastern border of Germany rubbing shoulders with the Czech Republic. The locals are incredibly friendly and have very few visitors from England or the US, so you are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome, don't be surprised if they want to practice their English on you.

The Kohlhaukuppe is a traditional German restaurant frequented daily by walkers in the summer & skiers in the winter. It's certainly worth the trek. A well deserved litre jug of beer and a hearty meal will be waiting for those who have worked up an appetite. If you like garlic it's a must!

Berlin is a 2 hour drive or 90 minute train ride, Prague, Meissen and Colditz are less than a 90 minute drive, Dresden, Leipzig, the beauty of Saxony/Bohemian Switzerland are all within an hour drive. You may also wish to try Glashütte, the world famous birthplace of the German watch making industry. In Seiffen, the centre for making hand crafted wooden toys and Christmas decorations, visit the museum, workshops & multitude of shops selling the handmade products. Try stopping off at Voigtsdorf where people come from miles around to sample the homemade cakes in the Eiscafe Adelklause.
