Berlin-Wilmersdorf Overview

Wilmersdorf is a neighborhood in western Berlin, to the south of Charlottenburg and the west of Schöneberg. The famous Kurfürstendamm Boulevard runs through the neighborhood, Charlottenburg Castle is close by, and both Lake Wannsee and Grunewald Forest, with its 16th century Hunting Lodge (now the home of a famous art museum), are popular nearby recreational destinations. Wilmersdorf is an inner city locality of Berlin, formerly a borough by itself but since Berlin's 2001 administrative reform a part of the new borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. In the north the Kurfürstendamm runs through the area.

Wilmersdorf is on the plateau of the Teltow in the southwest of present-day Berlin. It is bordered in the north by the district of Charlottenburg, on the west by the districts Halensee and Schmargendorf, in the south to the district Steglitz-Zehlendorf district belonging Steglitz and east of the district of Tempelhof-Schöneberg's Ortsteile Friedenau (at the Rheingau district) and Schöneberg.
