The famous castle Thurandt you can visit in Alken. Alkene is very central for all sorts of excursions on the Rhine and Mosel. Boppard - with stunning views of 4 lakes - about 12 km Cochem - Koblenz 25 km - 25 km St. Goar - 32 km - with the famous Loreley In alkene, there are multiple jetties. The ships depart several times weekly to Cochem and Koblenz. 400 year old wine cellar with wine tasting offer at the village of Alken. The old city walls dating from Roman times is still preserved in some cases and the Ortkern is worth in its origin with old half-timbered houses, numerous Winter economies, restaurants and cafes 2, 3 bakeries and 1 supermarket always a journey.

Alkene is very nice. Thurant and the ossuary in Alken see are up for it. Beautiful view from up there. Cochem is not far. Mosel is beautiful.
