Good morning, it could have been the restaurant "at the Kargl" in Saulgrub, the wind bags with a lot of cream serving and known for it! This place is near Bad Kohlgrub and the Internet site is www.landgasthaus-beim-kargl.de With kind regards, Angelika Rudolf

Hi Mrs Kraft, excuse me, the mail has unfortunately gone down. I do not know the name of the restaurant. The swan was, however, a favorite bull of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. The "Schloss Linderhof", built by him, is only about 20 km away. Perhaps the restaurant was in Linderhof, Graswang, Ettal or Oberammergau? I'm sorry I can not give you any more detailed information. Bad Kohlgrub is an old, tranquil village at the edge of the Alps, surrounded by meadows and lakes. It is an ideal starting point for visiting the sights in Upper Bavaria. Neuschwanstein Castle is 30 minutes away. Schloss Linderhof is also 30 minutes away. Garmisch-Partenkirchen with Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, is the same distance away. 15 minutes to Oberammergau with its famous Passion Play, or to Ettal Abbey World Heritage Site "Wies Church." The drive time time to Munich is 45 minutes by car. Aside from the main attractions in the local area, there are other magnificent churches and monasteries. A special unforgettable experience is a hike in the nearby mountains and nature reserves.

Bad Kohlgrub is a beautifully located resort in the Oberammergau Alps - great base for cycling and walking tours and relaxiing naturally. You can arrange for spa cures such as the famous Moor (mountain pine upland moor also known as the "black gold" - special treatments are offered here, such as stress management, Babywunsch, joint pain reduction, etc. In Bad Kohlgrub itself, there is the Hornle train which takes you to Hörnlehütte. Bad Kohlgrub is located between Oberammergau and Murnau.

There are very nice cycle tours and mountain hikes. In addition, Bad Kohlgrub offers many treatments and wellness facilities. Not far from Bad Kohlgrub is Murnau, where you can go boating or swimming in the Staffelsee, ... Also Oberammergau, where the famous Passion Play occurs, is nearby. Also worth seeing is the Linderhof castle of King Ludwig II, as well as Neuschwanstein castle in Fussen! These destinations are all accessible by bus for free, if you vacation in the Oberammergau Alps. If you do that, you will receive a guest card with which this you can take the bus for free!

Bad Kohlgrub is a small spa with mud baths. It used to be very popular for its treatments, but by this point, it is nothing special, whether for shopping or for a stroll. Only the Hornle train is special. The mountain we have near Oberammergau is very popular with tourists, as it offers a wonderful view of the front and back of the Hoernle. The Hornle track with its beautiful view is highly recommended, otherwise in Bad Kohlgrub there is nothing special on offer. We simply drive through there when we go to Murnau. Nearby Murnau is more interesting with its cultures, events, and the Staffelsee with mountain views all around. On the other side is Oberammergau with its theater, special paintings on the homes, the Hansel and Gretel house, many events, especially in the summer. That's all I can give you unfortunately on Bad Kohlgrub, just to drive through it to Murnau-Oberammergau. Greetings from Oberammergau, Monika Mittelndorf

Bad Kohlgrub belonged to the Ettal Monastery until 1803. In the course of administrative reform of 1818 in Bavaria emerged today's present community.
