Bad Schwartau is recommended for visitors who want to visit the Holstein Therme (thermal brine sources) or the Health Sector in Asklepios health center, to the park. There are beautiful, some marked hiking trails of varying length on a large wooded area. The proximity to the World Heritage City of Lübeck is attractive (6km) with its beautiful old town, which is quieter and more relaxed in B.Sch. (And cheaper) can live. The Baltic Sea the distance is about 14km.

In 1742 the Prince Bishop of Prince-Bishopric of Lübeck Adolf Frederick Schwartau granted the city its first rights. Just prior to 1900, Bad Schwartau evolved into a spa town when salt springs with a high iodine concentration were discovered.
