Castle Oberbach was in the possession of the Counts of Oettingen but then transferred to Bavarian power in 1803. The resulting area was a combination of formerly independent communities Burgoberbach, Neuses, Niederoberbach and Sommersdorf (Sommersdorf vacation rentals | Sommersdorf travel guide) in the Bavarian reform of 1972.
