Our house is located just outside of Coswig in the village Möllensdorf in a charming setting. It is ideally situated in terms of travel connections. It is only a short distance to the highway and attractions including: - Lutherstadt Wittenberg 20 minutes - Woerlitzer Park and Castle about 20 minutes - Castle Park Oranienbaum about 20 minutes - stone churches in surrounding villages - Elbe River valley countryside about 15 minutes - Eisenstadt Ferropolis about 30 minutes - Bauhaus in Dessau about 35 minutes - Franken Foundations in Halle 60 min - Auerbach's Cellar in Leipzig about 60 min - Sanssouci Palace and Park 60 min - Berlin center about 70 min. Hello, Coswig is located close to Wittenberg, Dessau (Bauhäuser), and the Woerlitzer Park. For the city itself, I have unfortunately no tips ... Best regards, Angela Loos

More about the History of Coswig (Anhalt)

The Castle of Coswig was mentioned first in 1187. There is no evidence for slav settlements before this date. In 1215 Coswig is called an "Oppidium". During this time it was one the most important cities North of the river Elbe. In the 16th century Coswig was already connected to a drinking water pipe from Wörpen. Weaving, pottery and farming played the most important role in economics. The city was nearly completely destroyed by Hispanic troops during the Schmalkaldic War. From 1603 to 1793, Coswig belonged to Anhalt-Zerbst. The Castle was constructed at the end of the 17th century. The train station was inaugurated on September 10 of 1841. In 1987 the city celebrated its 800th-year of existence.
