The boat tour with stops along all the towns on the Ammersee is relaxing and fun. The area right by the Ammersee is charming. An art store in the park sells local artists' works. Diessen has a nice tourist office and a store that specializes in Zinnfiguren.

Orff, who was born in Munich, liked to describe himself as a true Bavarian
. His world fame was assured by one single work - Carmina Burana. However, Orff also composed a great deal of other music, as well as rising to prominence in music education: he founded and developed a society to promote elementary music teaching. The museum covers his life and work.

The Augustinian Monastery Dießen probably originated in the 9th Century in the village of St. Georgen and was approved by the Counts of Andechs (Andechs vacation rentals | Andechs travel guide). The city originated in 1818 when it was created as a municipality in Bavaria under edict. Towards the end of the 19th Century, Dießen was an attraction for artists and craftsmen.
