Esslingen Overview
Esslingen am Neckar is a city in the Stuttgart (Stuttgart vacation rentals | Stuttgart travel guide) Region of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany, capital of the District of Esslingen as well as the largest city in the district. It is located on the Neckar River, about 14 km southeast of Stuttgart city centre. The surrounding regions are also mostly developed around the city of Esslingen.
Esslingen am Neckar is located in a bottleneck of the Neckar valley, southeast of Stuttgart. The river crosses the city from the southeast to the northwest, where the old city which lies north. From the community Altbach Coming, touching the first, the district Neckar cell and leaves the area between the city districts Mettingen and Weil in the direction of Stuttgart. Esslingen am Neckar ranges in the east in the amount of virgin forest in the south of the foothills to Filder level.

grew up with CURRY WURST,. there was FRED's in ESSLINGEN, they had the best, went back home in December and FRED dont exist anymore, but it was over 20 years ago when i ate my curry there.

Hohen Neuffen Castle

Hohenneuffen Castle is a large ruined castle in the northern foothills of the Swabian Alb, above the town of Neuffen in the district of Esslingen. It dominates the small town of Neuffen, and is situated on a rocky outcrop with great views. The castle was first mentioned in the 1100s, and is known to have passed through many hands over the years. It was unsuccessfully besieged in 1634. Its downfall came about in the 19th century, although it played a small role in World War 2. Today there is a restaurant and beer garden based at the bottom. The castle is also used for concerts and a medieval-style market, and tours are available to look around the castle.
Hours: November 1 - March 31, Wednesday - Sunday 10am - 6pm. April 1 - October 31, Wednesday - Sunday 10am - 10pm.

More about the History of Esslingen
Esslingen was first mentioned in 777 as Ezelinga in the last will of Abbot Fulrad from Saint-Denis (near Paris), the chaplain of Pippin and Charlemagne. Around 800 Esslingen became a market town, its market rights being certified in 866.
Esslingen was occupied by U.S. soldiers in April 1945, toward the end of World War II. During the war the city suffered very little damage thus most of the medivial appearance of its city centre has been preserved. After the Second World War, about 47,000 people (mostly refugees and displaced persons from the Eastern Germany) moved to Esslingen. There were settlements in Oberesslingen (Oberesslingen vacation rentals | Oberesslingen travel guide) and Zollberg, in order to overcome the shortage of housing.
