Feldatal Overview

Feldatal is a community in the Vogelsbergkreis in Hesse, Germany. The community lies 285 to 598 m above sea level on the north slope of the Vogelsberg Mountains. Through the community flows the river Felda, which empties into the Ohm at Gemünden (Gemünden vacation rentals | Gemünden travel guide).

Feldatal borders in the north on the town of Romrod, in the northeast on the community of Schwalmtal, in the east on the community of Lautertal, in the south on the town of Ulrichstein (Ulrichstein vacation rentals | Ulrichstein travel guide), in the southwest on the community of Mücke (Mücke vacation rentals | Mücke travel guide), and in the northwest on the community of Gemünden. The community consists of the centres of Ermenrod, Groß-Felda with constituent community of Schellnhausen, Kestrich (Kestrich vacation rentals | Kestrich travel guide), Köddingen, Stumpertenrod, Windhausen and Zeilbach.

One of our Live Like a German vacation apartments is located in the center of Feldatal, right next to a bakery, butcher shop, pharmacy, liquor store and solarium. A large size grocery store (TEGUT Markt) is just a few minutes away. This is the perfect little town to combine a shopping tour with a nice walk. This particular vacation apartment is located in a very quiet countryside that provides easy access to sites and cities in the surrounded area.

Local specialties are available at the bakery and the butcher shop around the corner. Make sure to eat the traditional Kartoffelwurst (potato sausage)! Make this vacation a special treat for your kids and visit Steinau Amusement Park, only 45 min away from your vacation apartment. The Steinau Amusement Park ventures a symbiosis of fun, play and the experience of down-to-earth countryside life. Plenty of rides and attractions like the summer toboggan slide (850 m), the petting zoo, the agricultural museum and last but not least the barbecue and picnic areas offer plenty of room for families. And if you still have to much energy after spending a day in the Amusement park, you can visit the Museum of the Brothers Grimm or the Devil’s Den cave.

Spend time at the public pool in Kestrich (5 min), explore the area on horseback in Ermenrod (5 min), or visit the Bird Park Schotten (30 min). The cities of Alsfeld (20 min), Gießen (40 min), and Marburg (50 min) also offer plenty of activities and sites.

Feldatal came into being as a result of the municipal reforms in 1972 when Ermenrod, Groß-Felda, Schellnhausen, Kestrich (Kestrich vacation rentals | Kestrich travel guide), Köddingen, Stumpertenrod, Windhausen and Zeilbach were united into a greater community.
