Good S-Bahn connections with Stuttgart make travel and day trips between these two communities quite easy. Although most visitors to Filderstadt will probably be drawn to the sites and sounds of Stuttgart itself, Filderstadt does offer some attractions that may keep you a little closer to home. For example, the Fildorado is a large outdoor and indoor swim complex, complete with fitness areas and saunas. History buffs may enjoy whiling away a few hours in the Filderstadtmuseum, learning about the city's local history. The Baden-Wuerttemberg state conference center and grounds is also located in Filderstadt. It is the 9th largest in the entire country, and it hosts a changing array of trade fairs and conferences throughout the year. Filderstadt is also home to a very active cultural center with a rich repertoire of plays, musicals, concerts, and cabaret evenings. Outdoor activities are also available for those seeking physical recreation. Nearby one can find natural areas for play and relaxation, and extensive hiking trails can take you out into the surrounding region. From Filderstadt, the most logical day trips are to the neighboring cities of Stuttgart and Esslingen, which offer a vast number of cultural and urban delights.
