Grevenbroich Overview
Grevenbroich is a municipality in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss (Neuss vacation rentals | Neuss travel guide), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the river Erft, approximately 15 km southwest of Neuss and 15 km southeast of Mönchengladbach (Mönchengladbach vacation rentals | Mönchengladbach travel guide).
The city today has an area of 102.6 square kilometers. It is influenced by two lignite-fired power stations that are currently adjacent brown coal and the former Abbaggerungen places Grevenbroich and farms, and the resultant artificial hills (renatured slagheaps) Vollrath height and height Gustorfer. With good transport links by road and rail network, the nearby coal-fired power plants are an energy supplier between the cities with the largest population density of North Rhine-Westphalia.

More about the History of Grevenbroich
In the 15th Century, Grevenbroich castle was built by the Counts of Jülich and since 1425, numerous councils were held. From the former palace is still the Palasbau, including a gatehouse, which separates the castle.
Grevenbroich had the city-owned site Gürath around 1900 and was the first village in specialize in the Rhenish lignite mining area.
In 2005, Grevenbroich won the Unsere Stadt blüht auf award.
