Hagnau Overview

Hagnau is a village on the northern shore of Lake Constance between Meersburg (Meersburg vacation rentals | Meersburg travel guide) and Friedrichshafen (Friedrichshafen vacation rentals | Friedrichshafen travel guide) in the Lake District in Baden-Wuerttemberg. It lies in a steep slope and was called at the beginning of the 19th Century Hangnau.

Hagnau's history is inextricably linked with the wine. The place is known for its extensive wine-growing regions. The winegrowers' cooperative, the vintners association Hagnau, is the oldest in swimming and the largest on Lake Constance, both for members (110 winemakers from 60 Winegrower families) as well as vineyard acres (145 hectares). Meanwhile, many winemakers with tourism a second pillar is created. The Winegrowers Association was in 1881 by popular author and former pastor of the parish, Hans Heinrich Jakob, economic Notzeit founded. The wine is "environmentally controlled" mode. Against powdery mildew fungicides on the one hand, on the other hand pilzresistente varieties (eg Regent) was developed. Dating back to the late Bronze Age 1050 BC the lakeside town Hagnau was already populated.

Hagnau was first mentioned on 24 January 1152 in a charter of Pope Eugene III. For centuries it belonged to the Benedictine Abbey of Weingarten, and was finally secularized in 1803.
