Iphofen has several local vineyards, and is famous for its wine. Local Industry includes the Knauf factory which manufactures gypsum boards.

With its picturesque and perfectly preserved medieval and baroque old town ensemble Iphofen is both a tourist and historical attraction. There are also many vineyards in the area. Iphofen lies at the foot of the Schwanbergs, one of the highest mountains in the Steigerwald.
