More about the History of Irrel

The postwar period is characterized by the development of the village, for example through the construction of schools and the establishment of shopping opportunities. The tourism reached its peak in the South Eifel region in the 1950s and 1960s, when many hotels, guesthouses and campsites were built. Today the region is more a destination for recreation and short breaks. Today, agriculture is, until the post-war period, one of the main occupations, and most workers still commute into the Bitburg (Bitburg vacation rentals | Bitburg travel guide), Luxembourg or Trier (Trier vacation rentals | Trier travel guide).
