Kerpen is centrally located between the cities of Cologne, Aachen, Bonn and Dusseldorf. As a starting point for visits to these cities as well as into the Eifel, to the Rhine and the Ruhr, the city is ideal. For more information about Kerpen and the attractions and opportunities, here are some links: http://www.ferienwohnung-kannen.de/; http://www.stadt-kerpen.de/; https://www.rhein-erft-kreis.de/. Kerpen is known as the birthplace of Adolf Kolping (Kolping’s birthplace with a small museum) and of Michael Schumacher (7-time Formula 1 World Champion, MS-cart track). 2005 Kerpen was host of the World Youth Day (Marienfeld with "Pope's Hill"). In the tennis center, world-class players regularly hold their training sessions. In the urban area and in the vicinity, there are good opportunities for walking, cycling and other sports. Not far from lignite mines with the largest mining equipment in the world. And much more. Well worth a visit.

Kerpen, to my knowledge, has no attractions to highlight. Only the largest coal mine in Hambach is nearby, otherwise Cologne is the only nearby place of interest.
