Kloster takes its name from Kloster der Zisterzienser in 1296. Kloster over the years has come to include the Biological Station Hiddensee and the Ornithological Hiddensee.

Kloster is a subdivision in Hiddensee, a carfree island in the Baltic Sea, located west of RĂ¼gen on the German coast. Kloster is located at the Institute of Ecology University of Greifswald which was founded in 1992.
