Ladenburg Overview
Ladenburg is a town in the district of Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the right bank of the Neckar, 10 km east of Mannheim (Mannheim vacation rentals | Mannheim travel guide), and 10 km northwest of Heidelberg (Heidelberg vacation rentals | Heidelberg travel guide). It has an old town from the Late Middle Ages. Its history dates back to Celtic and Roman ages.

Ladenburg am Neckar. The most beautiful small town! Near Heidelberg. Go and visit. It's full of history. Was founded by the Romans over 2000 years ago. And the town centre is medieval. It's sooo pretty! And Carl Benz built the first motor car there.

More about the History of Ladenburg
The initial occupation of the site occurred sometime from 3000 to 200 BC Ladenburg existed first as a Celtic settlement Lokudunom (= "Seeburg"). In 1253, Schultheiß, jury and citizens first appeared in the town. The Worms (Worms vacation rentals | Worms travel guide) and Palatinate battled in a bloody feud over the dominion of Ladenburg in 1385. The city celebrated its 1900-year anniversary in 1998.
