A must visit is to the Licher Brewery. The Licher Privatbrauerei Ihring-Melchior GmbH is a a brewery in Lich, Germany. With 250 employees, the brewery is currently the largest private brewery located in Lich. "Licher Beer" has been market leader since 1988 in Hessen and is known to be one of the top 20 beers in the German beermarket.

Licher Beerhas been the market leader in Hessen since 1988 and is known to be one of the top 20 beers in the German beermarket. Brewery tours are held Wednesdays and Thursday by appointment; call +49 (0) 6404- 82-5137. Cost is 6 €.
Arnsburg Abbey (Kloster Arnsburg)

Arnsburg has been a Cistercian abbey and a medieval foundation which existed for more than 600 years until its dissolution in 1803. The abbey was founded in the year 1174 as a donation by the Lords of Arnsburg, who had lived in the Arnsburg castle until then and had moved to the Münzenburg – a castle which you can still see today from the main road leading to Arnsburg. Today, Arnsburg is one of the most beautiful monastic ruins in Europe. The ruins with their combination of architectural history and nature were put under a preservation order and thus the very special atmosphere evoked by the ancient buildings will be preserved. The contrast between the medieval ruins and the baroque buildings contributes its share to Arnsburg’s special charm.
The surrounding sites and attached buildings are equally noteworthy. They include the abbey’s office, the abbot’s home, the kitchen building, the watermill (Klostermühle
– today a restaurant), the old brewery, the stables and the abbot’s baroque garden house, erected in 1751.

Lich was built in 790 and was also mentioned the same year for the first time in the Lorsch (Lorsch vacation rentals | Lorsch travel guide) codex. In the year 1300, Lich was given its city rights as a special favor Philipp von Falkenstein of King Albert. The city headquarters remained at the house of Falkensteiner until the second half of the 14th Century, then falling to the Counts of Solms (Solms vacation rentals | Solms travel guide).
