"Hi, I am interning in Melsungen and will be here for the month of May. My office gets over at 6pm and there is nothing much to do after that. Can you suggest any activities in the evening? My weekends are sorted, its just the weekdays that I am concerned about" (posted 05/02/2016)

Hello, in Melsungen is in the evening not much going on and there is no cinema. But there are a few nice pubs, including the Pizzeria La Cantina in Kassel street. Above the pool is a good sauna with restaurant. And in 20 minutes you are in Kassel, where always something exciting going on, cinema, theater, concerts. The check on the Internet or in the newspaper. More I can not say unfortunately. Greetings Bernhard Straub

More about the History of Melsungen

The town had its first documentary mention in 802, but had likely been settled much earlier, in Hallstatt times (9th to 4th centuries BCE). From 1821 to 1974, Melsungen was an administrative centre and an independent district seat, until the Melsungen district was combined with the neighbouring Fritzlar-Homberg and Ziegenhain districts. The town's 14,000 or so inhabitants call themselves Bartenwetzer ("Axe whetters").
