In Mossautal is the Siegfried fountain from the Nibelungen saga where you pass on hikes through the beautiful landscape. Here the infamous lime leaf is fallen in the bath on the shoulder of Hagen, which resulted later that Siegfried was able to drill through the treachery of Hagen's wife Gwendolyn his sword to the heart of Siefried. Furthermore, here are remains of the Limes and fortifications. Here was the border between Roman and Germanic Empire about 2000 years ago. The Odenwald (and of course Mossautal) is centrally located to see the among others, the cities of Heidelberg, Fran Wade, Worms, Mannheim, Würzburg, Tauberbischhofsheim. The Odenwald is the smallest and southernmost county of Hesse and is located between the other three states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate

In Mossautal there are Schmucker brewery that is our local beer Odenwald It can also organizes guided tours. The cheese factory in Hüttental is also well worth seeing. For nature lovers and hikers Mossautal is very nice

Mossautal in the Odenwald is a community and a state-recognized health resort in the Odenwaldkreis (district) in Hesse, Germany.

Mossautal in the Odenwald is a community and a state-recognized health resort in the Odenwaldkreis (district) in Hesse, Germany.

Location

The community lies at elevations of between 300 and 500 m above sea level.

The Nibelungenstraße (Bundesstraße 47) touches Mossautal in the north and the Siegfriedstraße (Bundesstraße 460) runs through the community in the south. The surrounding countryside is also used as a holiday destination in the UNESCO Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald on the Marbach Reservoir, the Odenwald’s biggest body of standing water.

Mossautal is well known as a textbook example of a Waldhufendorf ("forest village").
