    Nürburgring

    The Nürburgring is a motorsports complex around the village of Nürburg, Germany. It is located about 70 km (43 mi) south of Cologne, and 120 km (75 mi) northwest of Frankfurt. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984, and a much longer old "Northern loop" track which was built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. The old track was nicknamed "The Green Hell" by Jackie Stewart, and is widely considered as the most demanding and difficult purpose-built racing circuit in the world.

Nürburg Overview

Nürburg is a town in the German district of Ahrweiler, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is also the name of the local castle, Burg Nürburg (Nürburg Castle). The town is best known for its 24 kilometer race track, the Nürburgring. Five kilometers of the track are used for a Formula One grand prix.

Nuerburg also includes Breidscheid, Herschbroich and Quiddelbach one of four locations within the North Loop of the Nürburgring. The annual precipitation is 872 mm. The precipitation is in the upper third of Germany covered in values. At 75% of monitoring stations of the German Weather Service are registered lower values. The driest month is February, the majority of precipitation falling in August. The rainfall varies only minimally and are very evenly distributed throughout the year.
