At the foot of the high rebuke, according to the Tyrolean gate extends the market town of Oberdrauburg. Set on an ancient Roman road, the market told at every turn stories from längstvergangen times. Rich with fascinating historic buildings and churches is Oberdrauburg a cultural jewel in the Upper Drau Valley. Archaeological finds on the Schröttelhofer field have proven that Oberdrauburg was inhabited at the time of the Celts and Romans. Was first documented Castle Oberdrauburg ("Castrum Traburch") in 1240, as part of an alliance between the Duke Bernhard of Carinthia and the Bishop of Brixen Egeno. 1292 Oberdrauburg passed into the dominion of Gorizia and 1325 raised to the market with toll Law The ruins High Castle is the landmark Oberdrauburgs and was first mentioned in records in 1375. After extensive renovation, it is now regarded as a center of cultural events. The parish church of St. Leonhard am Zwickenberg considered a jewel among the Gothic churches of Upper Carinthia and was first mentioned in 1334. The pilgrimage church of Maria Pirkach on the Oberdrauburger Schattseite is considered historically youngest church in Oberdrauburg and is now a popular pilgrimage church of Carinthia and East Tyrol The Trögerwandhöhlen lie west of Oberdrauburg and are characterized by their size and the wonderful hues of the cave walls. In addition, one has from lofty heights a wonderful panoramic view over the Tirolertor and the Lienz valley floor. The Silver Creek case south of Oberdrauburg is a popular hiking destination for hot days. About 50 m deep the water plunges the silver stream in the narrow gorge, and continues to undermine the water in the limestone.

The pilgrimage church of Maria Pirkach -. Located in Unterpirkach west of Ötting, perhaps as an attraction. For hikers and following directions is interesting: Oberdrauburg - Hochstadel House - Dreitörlweg - Carlsbad Cottage - Kerschbaumer Alm - Lienz to taste eine1 to 7 day tour.

Oberdrauburg is situated on the Drautal-Straße highway (Bundesstraße B 100) running from Spittal an der Drau to Lienz. Rail transport is available at the Oberdrauburg Station of the Drautalbahn (Drava Valley Railway) line.
