More about the History of Rheda-Wiedenbrück
Rheda was mentioned at first in 1085 and later the city castle was built from 1807-1815. From 1624-25, the first steps to a Counter-Reformation were made.
n 1938, the A 2 opened to traffic. The highway was almost exactly on the border between Rheda and Wiedenbrück built and is now the perceived boundary between the two cities. The two formerly independent cities Rheda and Wiedenbrück, under the municipal reform to the city, were combined into Rheda-Wiedenbrück.
