More about the History of Schwirzheim
The city was taken seriously only after the 10th century, which is proof from the local Burgruine Hartelstein's remaining walls. Presumably it was abandoned after the sale to the abbey of Prüm (Prüm vacation rentals | Prüm travel guide) in 1712, thus falling into disrepair. Today Schwirzheim is largely an agricultural town but it is transforming into more of a residential community.
