Located on the eastern shore of Staffelsee Lake, Seehausen am Staffelsee is situated in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district in southern Bavaria. According to the anti-Nazi, Austrian-Hungarian writer Ödön von Horváth, Seehausen am Staffelsee "is the loveliest place on the northern edge of the Bavarian Alps." Praise indeed for such a beautiful part of the world! This old fishing village is known for its historic farmhouses with painted scenes on their facades. Popular activities in and around Seehausen am Staffelsee include hiking, swimming, fishing, and water sports. Between April and October, boat trips can be taken on the MS Seehausen between the piers at Seehausen, Uffing, and Achele. Water lovers are sure to enjoy the 300-meter long beach area. Water slides, recreational islands, and mini-golf courses provide entertaining variety for the young and young-at-heart. Visitors to Seehausen am Staffelsee also make ample use of the opportunities to rent sail boats, surf boards, row boats, pedal boats, and motor boats.
