Stephanskirchen and the newly formed Hofleiten were in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818, separated into independent political communities. Then in 1854, both Hofleiten and Stephanskirchen were unified. Social differences in parts of the towns occurred until the late 19th Century. Since 1900, Schlo├čberg was Rosenheim's largest city in the municipality.
