Travel Insider Tips for Strullendorf
Strullendorf lies in a valley and is partly surrounded by the Hauptsmoorwald (forest), near which lies the Hauptsmoorhalle (a concert venue). The Hauptsmoorwald stretches all the way to Bamberg (Bamberg vacation rentals | Bamberg travel guide) and parts of it are used by the US Army stationed there as a training area.
This quiet farmer’s house is the ideal place to explore the
Frankenland. Your room is conveniently situated on the higher level of the restaurant Schiller. Fresh bread and
Brötchen (bread rolls) are served daily in the restaurant downstairs or in many of the little bakeries in town. If you chose so, you can enjoy your lunch and dinner at the Schiller restaurant downstairs and many other restaurants in Strullendorf, or travel to Bamberg city (15 min) for a greater variety and more entertainment.
Culinary specialties of the region
Local specialties include
Schweinsschäuferla (pan seared pigs shoulder) and

The Nuremberg (Nuremberg vacation rentals | Nuremberg travel guide) patrician family Tockler owned the Tocklerhof in Strullendorf until the 16th century. This, and the Zeidelhuben, used for forest beekeeping and already named by 1348, were of great economic importance for the community. Strullendorf belonged to the High Monastery at Bamberg (Bamberg vacation rentals | Bamberg travel guide). Since the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803, the community has belonged to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, today’s community came into being under the Gemeindeedikt (“Community Edict”) of 1818.
