Wutha-Farnroda is a municipality in the Wartburgkreis district of Thuringia, Germany, founded in 1987 by a union of the two towns of Wutha and Farnroda. It is at the foot of the Hörselberge mountains and borders on the Rennsteig; the Wartburg is five kilometers to the West. The old trading route Via Regia passed by here. Interesting sights include the Hörselberg museum, a regional museum focused on nature and natural history of the area, including geology, as well as baking. The Rathausgalerie (town hall gallery) was established to show works of various modern artists; the Old Town Hall Farnroda now serves as common library, tourist info and meeting place for NGOs, but in its anterooms, there is a diorama of the castle Farnroda around 1900. Other sights include the bell tower of the St. Laurent church of Farnroda and, in general, the historic city center; various buildings of historic interest can be found in the area.

Wutha-Farnroda has a very good railway connection and is only one stop way from Eisenach, where inter-city trains stop. The main road, which follows the course of the Hoersel river, is the B 7; it runs through the lower part of the town and goes to all the major towns in the east/west; it is regularly served by the local bus service. North of the town is the Hoerseberg mountain, which is used by walkers and hikers alike and provides exceptional views into the Thuringian Forest. A beautiful walk to recommend starts at Zapfengrund in Schoenau, where there is a very good Gasthaus where one can also go horse-riding, and continues upwards to the Hoerselberg house, a recently renovated Gasthaus with good food and a stunning panorama. The town is close to the village Mosbach which has a large open-air swimming pool; other villages which form part of the community are Kahlenberg with Burbach, Schoenau a.d. Hoersel with Deubach. All these villages have their own groups, clubs, and associations which provide for local traditions, whether it be carnival, the summer fête, or the winter bob-run, there is usually something going on that tourists and locals can join in together.
