Ironically, the first settlers were panning for gold and the city was first mentioned in 1255. On 13 August 1994 158 horses pulled a 310 meters long Gespannszug in front of a large crowd from Lindberg to Zwiesel. This record is recognized in the Guiness Book in 1995.
