If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of Oktoberfest, here’s a quick overview: Between September 18 and October 3 2010, all of the major names in the German beer scene set up massive tents filled with long tables and decorated in a traditional Bavarian style. In order to get a seat in a tent, it’s important that you buy tickets in advance. It is sometimes possible to get in without a ticket, if you’re very patient (or very pushy!) or generously tip the doorman, but it’s extremely hard to get through the crowds and into a beer tent without considerable advance planning. Travel back in time…. to Essing
Coming to Essing makes you feel like traveling back in time. This very small town with less than 1000 citizens in lower Bavaria is located in a valley and surrounded by steep mountains and rivers. Lovely half—timbered houses and blooming gardens everywhere complete this idyllic scene of old—fashioned Bavaria. Essing is a hidden place, where you have the chance to spend a peaceful vacation but also can be very active. Berlin is known to be quite an alternative city- it is after all the Mecca for electronic, techno and dance music. Because the locals have been suppressed in the years before the wall fell, it is only natural that they would be so incredibly open-minded people. I gathered from YouTube some of the freakiest, funniest and wackiest videos - all made in Berlin either by locals or by tourist. Veitshöchheim – Architectural and Culinary Delights
Veitshöchheim is a picture—perfect small town just five miles northwest of Würzburg. Its great location right at the river Main and amidst wonderful Bavarian countryside, quaint historic buildings, an impressive Catholic church as well as several chapels, more than 20 eateries and, most impressive of all, the Veitshöchheim Palace make this town so special and certainly worth a visit.
