Beautiful and Very Traditional City of Aschaffenburg
Categories: Sightseeing, Cultural and History, General Travel Info
Aschaffenburg is a beautiful town it has so much to do and see and is not only modern in a lot of ways but remains very traditional at the same time Aschaffenburg is a river town which lies on the Main river. King Ludwig the first of Bavaria chose this town in which to reside and it boasts a beautiful museum that houses many cultural artifacts in the Schlossmuseum. The city has a lot of fascinating architecture and gardens some with some of the most beautiful trees in the spring that one could imagine. The city is very picturesque. It has a beautiful castle, a park with a popular attraction, the manor.
Aschaffenburg is also in Bavaria to us Americans and Bayern in Deutsch and in the fall they celebrate Oktoberfest which is a seasonal festival that is loads of exciting fun. Oktoberfest is commonly thought of as a Munich attraction however all cities in Germany celebrate this and Aschaffenburg is beautiful during the fall season and the festival beer gardens are everywhere. They have a great Christmas or christkindlmarkt bazaar at the castle as well as other great markets throughout the year. The festivals are extremely family oriented and the food is decadent and mouthwatering extravagant.
Aschaffenburg has to be one of my favorite vacationing spots in which to travel. Almost every town in Germany has there own local beer or brew and Aschaffenburg's has a great taste. The city is one of the few that has a great indoor mall and it is pretty great, the shopping is spectacular. In Germany it is normal for your dog to be with you everywhere except some food places however for the most part the hunds or dogs in American can travel with you most anywhere, which makes it great for any dog lover. The night life in Aschaffenburg is exceptional with the club which are awesome and the taverns or pubs are definitely the best. One of my favorite items in the summer months was gelato which is a Italian ice cream treat but there are ice cream stops everywhere in which to stop on the street at an outdoor cafe and have a ice cream. No need for cars in Germany, buses and walking is the method of standard transportation. Aschaffenburg has a moderate snow fall period during winter and it has a beautiful spring and summer season. Germany itself boasts typically all four seasons each year however the mountains of Bavaria typically have more snow than the lower altitudes. The city is very clean and the locals are very friendly and the city is a favorite of retired military.
