Adventure in Beautiful Landscape: Climbing and Hiking in the Kleinziegenfelder Tal

The climbing area developed approximately 60 million years ago from sediments of the still older Tethys Sea and consists of lime stone and dolomite. With now far more than 7000 routes and countless boulders, distributed over nearly 1000 rocks, Frankenjura is one of the biggest and most historical sport climbing areas in Europe. And the Kleinzigenfelder Tal bears some of the most interesting and demanding routes!
Most of the rocks have a height between 15m and 25m. Some rocks even reach up to 50m and often show classical multi-pitch climbing lines. Additionally over the last 20 years many low massifs with 10m or less were opened with new and often very difficult boulders.
The Kleinziegenfelder Tal is certainly a paradise for expert climbers and adrenaline junkies. However, the valley with its cozy old villages, quiet streams, traditional pubs and beer gardens is so lovely, that it is also a great destination for tourists who just want to enjoy a nice and peaceful holiday in beautiful nature.
