Exploring Berlin’s Christmas Markets

I’m wearing three pairs of socks, two thermals, stockings underneath tights, a jumper, a scarf, gloves, a woolen hat, a woollen coat AND gumboots but my body is still a shrine for goosebumps and the drip from my nose is starting to freeze as I attempt to keep warm.
Believe it or not, I’m not in the French Alps, nor am I in Antarctica. I’m in Germany’s much loved city of Berlin (Berlin vacation rentals | Berlin travel guide) and it’s a chilly -15 degrees. At 25 years old it may be unusual to some to learn that the coldest my body has ever been is about 5 degrees, and I think that has only ever happened once or twice!
After a short train ride we arrive at one of Berlin’s 65 Christmas markets. Greeted by steam wafting from snow-covered cabins selling bratwurst sausages and Glühwein (hot wine), I realize I’m in Christmas heaven. But it isn’t the savory smells or the twinkling decorations that grab my attention– it’s the toboggan slide!
