The bear is a fitting symbol of Berlin (Berlin vacation rentals | Berlin travel guide) - gruff, endlessly adaptable, forceful, fiercely protective of its young, able to endure times that would spell doom to a lesser species and, at once, loveable and frightening in some of its aspects. Many believe that Berlin is the combination of old and new, east and west.
Berlin is all about reinventing things from the past and combining them with current themes. Mitte is the new center of the old easy with a mashup of history combine with current events. The Potsdamer Platz is the newer part of Berlin, where buildings are springing up left and right.
There is the Eastside Gallery where the former Berlin wall is. There is little of it left as well as past structures, but tourists still flock there for the feeling in the air.
There are also weird sports like natural golfing and chessboxing being invented in Berlin. There are just so many culturally-inclined inhabitants. There's always some sort of party going on with techno or punk music going. Club parties are the norm, especially late night.
