Live Like A German recently posted an article on finding cheap flights to Germany, on which we got a lot of feedback. Many of you had great tips on where to search the net for budget flights and others contacted us with follow up questions. Therefore, Live Like A German has decided to publish a second article, where all the relevant information is summarized again and where you can find useful links to book your next flight to Germany for less.

These days Germany has 16 international and 20 national airports, the biggest ones being in Frankfurt (Frankfurt vacation rentals | Frankfurt travel guide) am Main in Hesse, down in the South in Munich (Munich vacation rentals | Munich travel guide), up in the North in Hamburg (Hamburg vacation rentals | Hamburg travel guide) and of course Berlin (Berlin vacation rentals | Berlin travel guide) Tegel (Tegel vacation rentals | Tegel travel guide). There is certainly no shortage of flight connections between basically any destination in the USA and anywhere in Germany. However, if you care not to overspend on flight tickets, you need to make an effort. First of all, do not just purchase your ticket with the next best airline, but compare prices. You will find some useful advice on this topic in the next paragraph. Secondly, it often pays out to be flexible. Flights on the weekend, especially Friday and Sunday evening, are always more expensive than flights, let’s say, on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Additionally, the more unpopular the departure time, the cheaper the flight. But if you have the chance to save a couple hundred Dollars, is it really so bad to get up very early in the morning for once?! Finally, especially if you plan to visit Germany during a holiday, like Easter or Christmas, you are advised to book as far in advance as possible. Don’t forget: the greater the demand, the higher the prices!

There is a huge number of US as well as German airlines flying between Germany and North America. Faced with almost endless choices, it can be very difficult to decide on the best departure and destination airport and, most notably, the cheapest and still most reliable airline. Instead of visiting the web sites of every possible airline one after the other and checking for dates and prices, it is much more convenient to use one of the many online travel agents. There is a number of sites, where you just type in where you want to fly from and to which city and, of course, your preferred dates and after only seconds you get a list of possible flights, including exact dates and prices, for all the airlines that fly this particular air route. Best off all, if you book your flight ticket through these web sites, you often even get it for cheaper than if you booked it directly on the airline’s web site.
