Neustadt am Rübenberge is a lovely town in Northern Germany and a preferred holiday destination for many families. There is only one word that sums up the many reasons why this town is so popular with national and international tourists: diversity.

Neustadt am Rübenberge is a traditional German small town in the best sense of the word. It has a historic town center, where you can shop for groceries, get a bite to eat or just marvel at the many beautiful half—timbered houses. The whole time of your stay you don’t need to get into a car because everything that might be of interest is close by. There is no danger to let children stroll around on their own and parents can simply relax for the duration of their holiday. At the same time Neustadt am Rübenberge (Neustadt am Rübenberge vacation rentals | Neustadt am Rübenberge travel guide) is only a short train ride away from Hanover, the capital city of Lower Saxony, where you can go for an extended shopping spree, visit the theatre, the opera, bars and nightclubs and simply enjoy all the perks of a big city.

Neustadt am Rübenberge might be a cozy small town but the landscape around it just screams of excitement and adventure. Vast moorlands and forests surround the town. There is hardly a better way to spend an unforgettable day with children than by renting bikes and emerging on a trip trough this magical and gloomy countryside.

When it is really hot in the summer, most tourists spend their days in the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park, which is just outside town. The park contains Germany’s largest inland lake, where people can swim, go sailing or surfing. Should you prefer man—made swimming pools to wild waters, there are two water parks in Neustadt am Rübenberge, you can chose from. The Freibad Nöpke consists of several outdoor pools, a café and a children’s playground and is only open for business from May until end of September. During the wintertime you can visit the BHKW & Hallenbad Neustadt, an indoor water park, which is open to the public all year round.

Of course Neustadt am Rübenberge has many cafés and restaurants, where you can get great food. However, there is one insider tip, I would like to share with you. In Hagener Straße 41 right by the nature park, there is a cozy restaurant called Santorum, which only sells Greek specialties at low prices and has been a favorite of the locals for years.

Although Neustadt am Rübenberge consists of many beautiful buildings, Landestrost Castle is certainly the most impressive one. This castle was built in Renaissance style during the 16th century and is open to the general public today. Visitors can stroll through the recently redesigned garden that surrounds the building, visit the local history museum or take a tour through the in—house winery, where champagne and wine is still produced and sold today. Additionally, Landestrost Castle is regularly used as an event space for classical concerts, readings, exhibitions, theatre performances and much more.

Neustadt am Rübenberge has something to offer for everyone. It is the perfect location for a fun family holiday. Come on over and see for yourself!
