Held for the first time in 1985, the festival was supposed to be a one—off. However, due to its instant popularity, the organizers decided to make it an annual event. Major bands, such as INXS and Metallica have appeared at the Nürburgring but the festival also prides itself in providing a platform for young and unknown bands with outstanding talent. Rock am Ring is a musical event where you regularly get the unique chance to see present newcomers and future Rock stars for the first time on a big stage.
