See Dinosaur Skeletons at Senckenberg Museum
Categories: Family and Kids, Sightseeing, Cultural and History
The Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt (Frankfurt vacation rentals | Frankfurt travel guide) is the largest museum of natural history in Germany. You can spend an entire day there. This museum is great for kids and adults as there are exhibits of dinosaurs, fossils, mummies, a huge anaconda, and so much more. It is particularly popular with children, who can enjoy the extensive collection of dinosaur skeletons (the Senckenberg boasts the largest exhibition of large dinosaurs in Europe). One particular treasure is a dinosaur fossil with uniquely preserved scaled skin. Also, the museum contains the world's largest and diverse collection of around 2,000 stuffed birds. In 2004 almost 400,000 people visited the museum.
Today visitors are greeted outside the building by large, life-size recreations of dinosaurs, which are based on the latest scientific theories on dinosaur appearance. Inside, one can follow the tracks of a Titanosaurus, which have been impressed into the floor, towards its impressive skeleton on a sheltered patio. There is a restaurant on site, a museum store, a movie theater and guided tours available.
