Shopping at Forum Wetzlar

If you're into Shopping: The Forum in Wetzlar (Wetzlar vacation rentals | Wetzlar travel guide) is the biggest inner-city shopping mall in middle Hesse (Mittelhessen.) It comprises over 110 shops, offering a broad mix of shopping opportunities, along with restaurants and grocery shops.
It is conveniently located at highway B-49, close to the Wetzlar train station, approximately 5 minutes from Wetzlar's historic down-town.
Parking
There is a huge parking structure attached, with relatively low rates (first hour is free). You get a parking ticket when you enter, and when you buy something inside let the cashier stamp your ticket. This gives you an extra free hour of parking.
Payment
Although some of the stores in this mall accept credit cards, most of them actually do not. Either you have to have enough cash, or you can use a debit card issues by a German bank (e.g., "Scheckkarte"). Be prepared and try to get some cash before visiting stores. If you see a sign that they accept credit card you can take advantage of that and save your cash for other expenses where no credit cards are accepted.
Events
The Forum arena is also a popular venue that hosts popular events there over the year. You can check their web site to see a list of those events prior to your departure to Germany and try to get get some tickets if you like. If you're staying in a vacation rental try to contact the property owner in advance. Sometimes they are very friendly can help you to get tickets or you could use the address of your vacation rental to have them mail the tickets directly there, so that you can pick them up when arriving in Germany.

By car:
You can reach the FORUM Wetzlar most directly on the B 49, exit "Garbenheim". In Wetzlar, follow the signs to notice, "City", then direction "FORUM / ARENA".
By bus:
The central bus station is located directly next to the FORUM Wetzlar. All bus routes stop here.
By train:
The FORUM Wetzlar is located directly opposite the railway station Wetzlar.
Opening Hours
Monday through Saturday 9:30 am to 8:00 pm
Most grocery stores close on Sundays and are open limited on Saturdays. Especially in small villages it will be hard to find an open store after noon on a Saturday and Sunday. So buy your goodies before you hit the weekend. Also the Forum will be closed Sundays (there are one or two Sundays per year when this is not the case.)
