Enjoy the spectacular view from the Hausbergturm near Butzbach

If you like the outdoors, hiking and exploring nature, then the town of Butzbach (Butzbach vacation rentals | Butzbach travel guide) should be on top of your list of places to visit in Germany. Butzbach lies in a rural farming area in the Taunus, a low mountain range in Hesse, and is at the foot of the Hausberg, one of the highest mountains within the Taunus. On top of this mountain the citizens of Butzbach have built a giant look—out from where you have a breathtaking view over the whole area.
The first look—out was already built in 1873 but had to be torn down in 1941 because the tower had become too run down and was a danger to its visitors. Since then there had been several attempts to rebuild the look-out but only in 2005 an association started to form that finally managed to get the needed funding, permits and man power together to start the build of the new Hausbergturm on the 1st of May in 2007. Exactly one year later the almost 80 feet high tower was inaugurated.
Since then the Hausbergturm is a popular destination for hikers all year round. From the observation deck you have an amazing view onto the town of Butzbach and over wide parts of the Taunus. It is a great place for bird watching or landscape painting. Around the look—out there are several wooden tables and benches, for visitors to rest and have picnics. Every year, on the 1st of May, there is a great spring festival at the Hausberg, which usually attracts hundreds of visitors. Butzbach is a typically German quaint and tranquil small town, which is countrywide known for its stunning half-timbered houses.
