From the 11th until the 21st February 2010 the eyes of the world will be upon Berlin (Berlin vacation rentals | Berlin travel guide) when Germany’s capital welcomes movie stars, industry people and cineastes to celebrate the Berlinale for the 60th time next year.
This festival in Germany is not only the Berlin’s largest cultural event, but also one of the most important dates on the international film industry’s calendar.
The Berlinale is truly a mega event that attracts global media attention. Usually about 20,000 film fans visit the festival to watch up to 400 movies covering all genres, lengths and formats. Additionally more than 19,000 film professionals from 120 countries, including 4,000 journalists, are accredited for the Berlin International Film Festival every year.
The Berlinale offers something for everybody’s taste, as the line—up ranges from major productions with stellar casts to lesser—known independent pictures. Most of them are world or European premieres. But of course there is more to see than just movies. The Berlinale jury traditionally consists of the crème de la crème of European actresses and actors and also many of the major Hollywood stars do not miss the spectacle. Currently Berlin is one of the most vibrant and exiting cities in Germany and worldwide. The European metropolis attracts an interesting mix of glamorous international celebrities, industry people, social butterflies and hardcore film fans, who turn Berlin into one huge party for two weeks in February every year.
