Best Place to Find Rosenthal Selb
[ source: Wikipedia]
The best location to obtain Rosenthal Selb (Selb vacation rentals | Selb travel guide) is from the workshop itself. It is a specific type of porcelain dating from the 1800s to present day. The Rosenthal name is world renown for producing exceptionally fine quality figurines and tableware. The company was started in the late 1800s by Phillip Rosenthal along with his wife Maria. Mr. Rosenthal went door to door selling dishware that was meticulously hand painted by his wife. The original Rosenthal pieces were white ware manufactured by Hutschrenreuther however the Rosenthal’s were so successful that by 1891 they were able to start their own factory in Asch, Bohemia. Additional factories were acquired subsequently at other locations which led to continued growth of the company.
One of the most popular Rosenthal Selb patterns is named after the founder’s wife Maria and was introduced in 1916 as a full service set. Mrs. Rosenthal favored baroque designs and rococo curlicues as decorations which are the hallmark of Rosenthal Selb’s earlier designs. World War II cause a brief pause in production however Rosenthal’s sons regained momentum and introduced popular pieces from artists Hans Theo Baumann, Raymond Leowy, and Raymond Peynet. The Rosenthal’s also focused on modernizing their factories following World War II and introduced new simplified elegant patterns under the Studio Line. Patterns named after popular stars were debuted under the studio line such as Audrey Hepburn, Aga Khan, and Elizabeth Taylor.
The company continued to produce make of the older patterns but mainly focuses on unique designs from cutting edge fashion trends. Porcelain collectors know Selb as “The Porcelain Town” in Germany. In fact, porcelain is so ingrained in the town that in addition to countless shops selling porcelain products, visitors can see a fountain and street tiles made from the material. The best location to purchase authentic Rosenthal Selb is from the Rosenthal workshop located in Philip Rosenthal Platz Square. The Rosenthal workshop features the finest products at extremely discounted rates.
Some typical wares available for purchase at the Rosenthal workshop include crockery, cutlery, glassware, ornaments, as well as the famous dinnerware sets. The workshop also offers less expensive second quality tableware that is still meticulously beautiful but does not quite meet the rigid Rosenthal top quality standards. The Rosenthal workshop is located in another famous high quality porcelain workshop that dated from 1814 AD. Artisans also hold public demonstrations of the history and manufacturer of their products at the workshop.
