Franconia--Boutique, Fairy Tale, and Wine Region

There are lots of things to do in Franconia. Here was a wine country with an exceptional repertoire of distinct grapes that matured into sunshine flavors, packed in stout green bottles typical to the region. In Franconia, there is never any hurry to savour the world class wine varietals that this side of the world knows very little about. But as accompaniments to Bavarian dining, Franconian wines have no equal.
Indeed, Franconia offered us numerous, varied things to do. Sunsets come late these parts as summer inches in and as we drove leisurely back on the fabled Romantic Route back along the scenic Tauber rivers long winding banks, we stopped whimsically at an derelict giant water mill by the grassy kerb, watching two magpies chattering away into the amber shadows. Idyllic, picturesque and serene, devoid of crowds and chaos.
At the town-end of Rothenburg (Rothenburg vacation rentals | Rothenburg travel guide) On The Tauber, the medieval fortified town in Middle Franconia, with turreted watch towers and moats, we watched bikers swigging in at a knoll-ledged beer garden.
Dinner at the cozy yet chic fine dining Restaurant at Villa Mittermeier was a suave combo of more boutique Franken (Franconian) wines with signature fare. Later a quiet walk along the ancient stone ramparts of car free Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber led to the town square, the Town Hall and Parliament buildings.
