A visit to Heide-Park in Soltau (Soltau vacation rentals | Soltau travel guide) guarantees fun for the whole family. It is the biggest amusement park in Northern Germany and a place where children can go wild and parents find relaxation at the same time. The park features 40 rides, various shows, special attractions for young children, the idyllic Heide—Village with its beautiful garden and much more. Read further for some travel tips on what to do here.

The most spectacular ride in the Heide Park at Soltau certainly is the Colossos, which is listed as the world’s steepest wooden roller coaster in Guinness’ Book of World Records. Speeding at 75 mph 200 ft in the air, you will feel like you are flying.

Another highlight is Scream, one of the highest gyro—drop towers in the world. Dropping straight down from 235 ft up in the air at a speed of 60 mph is a true test of bravery.

As a travel tip to the visitor in need for some peace and quiet, look for the Heide-Village, an idyllic oasis of tranquility. With great eye for detail master craftsmen and artisans have re—constructed a charming historic village and created the perfect location for a couple’s romantic moments. The village is surrounded by a fairy—tale garden, filled with ancient pine trees, moor plants and climbing ivy. Wandering through this beautiful piece of nature lets you completely forget all the stress of today’s world.

For Americans who still want to feel close to home in alien lands, Heide-Park offers a replica of the Statue of Liberty, that is exactly half as big as the original, as well as a mini version of the Capitol, which houses an American—style restaurant.

If you would like to spend more than one day at Heide-Park, the Port Royal awaits you. In this swank 4—star hotel the Caribbean pirate era of the 17th century has come to live again. Visitors with a smaller budget can spend the night at the Holiday Camp in Soltau, where you stay in colorful Caribbean—style huts.
