Every year on the third weekend in September hundreds of artists and exhibitors from all over the world come to Lichtenfels to present and sell traditional wicker craftsmanship. This summer the festival takes place from the 18th until the 20th of September.
From simple articles of daily use, like quaint wicker baskets, over traditional and modern wicker furniture onto spectacular and unique designer pieces — at the Korbmarkt you can buy everything your heart desires.
But the Korbmarkt in Lichtenfels is more than just a huge market for wicker products. It is a fair that takes over the whole town center with live music at every corner. In the beautiful Old Town, the Korbmarkt artists give you a taste of their marvelous skills by showcasing their trade live on stage. In the evening theatrical and musical performances provide further entertainment and of course there is always the exceptional Franconian beer and food.
Lichtenfels is the home of the
Staatliche Berufsfachschule für Flechtgestaltung, a world-renowned school for wicker artists, which offers a number of workshops at the time of the fair. If you are interested in joining one of them, please download further information form from this site: www.korbmarkt.de.
